Anti-Ragging

In order to eradicate Ragging, Baghmara College has formed Anti Ragging Committee and Anti Ragging Squad as per the UGC guidelines.

According to the UGC Regulations (No : UGC-Rag/C/96(15)/SCHE/2009) circulated on April 13, 2009, ragging in Higher Educational Institutions is strictly prohibited and totally banned, and anyone found guilty of ragging is liable to be punished in any one or more than one way mentioned below:

  • Cancellation of admission
  • Suspension from attending classes
  • Withholding/Withdrawing scholarship/fellowship and other benefits
  • Debarring from appearing in any test/examination or other evaluation process
  • Withholding results
  • Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national or international meet, tournament, youth festival etc.
  • Rustication from the institution for a period ranging from one to four semesters
  • Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution
  • Fine of Rs. 15000/-
  • Collective punishment: when the persons committing or abetting the crime of ragging are not identified, the institution shall resort to collective punishment as a deterrent to ensure community pressure on the potential raggers.

As per UGC’s regulations, it is mandatory for every student and his/her parents to submit an “Anti-Ragging Affidavit” at the time of admission and thereafter each year at the time of annual registration. Hence, all the students, especially 1st Semester B.A. (Hons and General Programme course) students are hereby asked to fill up the anti-ragging form available online at the website: www.antiragging.in
